TRAVEL INSURANCE NOTES:

Travel insurance is coverage designed to protect against risks and financial losses that could happen while traveling. The risks range from minor inconveniences such as missed airline connections and delayed luggage to more serious issues including injuries or major illness.

What is covered by travel insurance? Most plans typically cover a range of trip protections, including accidental death and dismemberment, baggage delay or loss, emergency medical coverage and evacuation, trip cancellation, delay, or interruption, and more.

The average cost of travel insurance is 5% to 6% of your trip costs, according to Forbes Advisor's analysis of travel insurance rates.  Age, state of residency, and previous medical conditions may also factor in the cost of the policy.

Who needs travel insurance?
Travel health insurance is especially important if you have an existing health condition, are traveling for more than 6 months, or doing adventure activities such as scuba diving or hang gliding. Check if your current health care policy covers emergencies that happen while traveling domestically or abroad.

If you’re wondering when you should buy travel insurance, the simple answer is, “as soon as possible.” Ideally, you’ll buy coverage no later than 15 days after purchase or first deposit to your trip.

The Cruise Planners travel agency will offer travel insurance to the TRAVELER every time a reservation is made as required by the seller of travel laws. The optional travel insurance is offered to protect the TRAVELER(S) investment, for medical and covered situations. Without appropriate travel insurance, the TRAVELER understands and agrees that if a trip cancellation or interruption occurs for any reason, portions of the trip/tour may not be refunded, and the AGENCY and TRAVEL COMPANY's cancellation penalties will apply resulting in the loss of monies up to the full cost of travel booking and related costs. Travel insurance may protect your financial investment in certain situations, but it is not a complete solution. Read the brochure link below to learn about coverage before purchasing. If you are not buying travel insurance, we ask you to check the travel insurance waiver statement declining this choice.

Travel insurance options: Every travel company (cruise, airline, tour) offers some form of travel insurance. On some occasions, this insurance may be sufficient.  This is better than nothing. However, there is a significant difference between travel company-provided insurance and third-party insurance, like Allianz Travel Protection.

The most important aspect is to obtain some kind of insurance.  You can shop around for travel insurance, just ensure to are getting some kind of medical insurance, repayment of the cruise, and evacuation, in case you must be sent back to the US.

Our agency has a partnership with Allianz Travel Insurance, and we highly recommend their travel insurance products to our clients.

Two of the products we offer

for travel, see these links below for the travel insurance brochures:

Travel Protection Plan,

Travel Protection Plan with Cancel Anytime (covers pre-existing conditions, but must be declared at the time of purchase)

TRAVEL INSURANCE QUOTE: The quote estimation is based on three factors. Number 1, the cost of the trip (cruise, airfare, packages, etc.), number 2, the age of the passengers, and number 3 the state of residency. Allianz Travel Insurance uses these factors to calculate the policy cost and coverage. Also, the quotes are only for the cost available at the time of the quote, for example: if the travel includes multiple legs, like cruise, hotel, excursions, airfare, and transfers. But the quote when it was created only includes the cruise and airfare cost, then it will be limited to that amount in case of a reimbursement claim. If you want all the legs of the trip to be included in the total amount covered, it is recommended to wait to purchase travel insurance until all the cost is known.

TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY COVERAGE: Please read the policy coverage description to learn about the limitations of the policy.

TRAVEL INSURANCE CLAIMS: Keep a detailed record of all your expenses incurred while traveling for claims purposes. Not all expenses can be used in a claim, but related expenses may be claimed. Try to file a claim as soon as possible upon your return. The claim process may take a few weeks to months to process.

TRAVEL INSURANCE ALTERNATIVE:  Some credit cards offer limited travel insurance coverage that in many domestic and international travel situations may be sufficient.  Check with your credit card issuer company for more information.

The decision to buy travel insurance OR NOT is on the TRAVELER. The purchase of travel insurance is made through a third-party provider and this AGENCY will refer to the TRAVELER to contact the Insurance company representative disclosed, for any questions or to start a claim process. All travel insurance policies have a coverage limit. The travel insurance premium is non-refundable.
