Getting married is and it should be the most important day in everyone's life.  The new bride and groom start thinking about the ceremony on the day of the proposal.  One option is to have the ceremony onboard a cruise.  However, it is important to have a clear understanding of what is involved.  Cruise Planners agents work together with many resorts, cruise companies, and hotels providing a one-stop shop.  We have connections with the highest quality travel companies worldwide.  Cruise weddings can be either civil/official or ceremonial.  Plus, this is a great option for vow renewals.

On this article, I just want to emphasize cruise weddings, pros, and cons.  Regardless of your decision, we can be your resource and manage your travel related needs to make this special day a memorable one.  Cruise weddings are definitely different and awesome, but it depends on the couple and what they prioritize for their wedding.

Cruise weddings are amazing and provide a great value for the wedding couple and the attendees.

Getting married on a cruise provides:

- Couples can get married on the ship:  Most cruise ships have a chapel onboard and almost all the cruise lines have a dedicated wedding department.  Our agents work together with the bride and the groom to identify the perfect cruise line for the wedding.  Couples must be matched with the correct cruise line and the best cruise ship for their expectations.  Not all cruise lines or cruise ships are adequate for all weddings.  This is extremely important to avoid disappointments.

Option 1:  Doing the ceremony on the departure date is a great option; it allows attendees to disembark the ship if they don't want to travel with the newlyweds.  This could be a significant saving for many visitors and guaranteeing a larger attendance to the actual ceremony.

Option 2: Performing the ceremony during the trip is another great option.  The ceremony is generally conducted on the second or third date of the trip while cruising.  However, only the close family members and friends will be willing to accompany the couple.  This will most likely reduce the audience attending the ceremony because of the additional cost for the travelers.

- Couples can get married at one of the port destinations:  Dreaming of a beach wedding?  this is also an option if you don't want to get married onboard.  CP agents can assist with the arrangement by working closely together with local planners to put together the entire event from flower shops, cakes, etc.  This is great if you like to have a little more control of your wedding ceremony.

Cruise Wedding pros and cons

Pros:

- super easy planning
- saving lots of money (food, accommodations, entertainment, drink packages, etc)
- Get to visit many destinations depending on the length of the cruise
- Spend extra quality time with family and friends
- Party doesn't stop after the wedding, it continues for the entire trip
- Combine the wedding and the honeymoon in one
- Getting a lot of attention onboard, people love weddings.  You may get an extra gift or drink wishing you good luck.

Cons:

Non-traditional
- Everything is pre-planned and very little or no customization is allowed.
- Unpredictable, the couple does not get to see the actual locations until the day of the wedding.
- Trust that everything is going to be ok on the wedding day.
- Little or no rehearsal
- Doing the wedding on the destination port may be risky.  There is no guarantee the ship will stop at the port listed in the itinerary.  Situations like the weather and local conditions may prevent the ship to dock at the port wedding destination.
