Travel Agent Job Description:


No travel agent experience required. 


This is a part-time sales position with the potential for full-time work.  Looking for a self-starter individual to work as an associate in our travel agency.  The associate position will be an independent contractor working as an affiliate operating under our agency accreditation. 

Minimum Requirements: 

- Some travel experience either personally or professionally.

- Reside in the U.S.

- Have a reliable vehicle

- Have a reliable personal computer, either a PC, laptop or MAC

- Have home internet access

- Enthusiastic about travel

- Well spoken and with a good public presence

- Be trustworthy and customer service oriented

- Great personality and outgoing

- Self-started and motivated


The person selected must be extremely well-organized, honest and trustworthy and willing to work in an unpredictable and high paced environment.  As an independent contractor, you will work your own hours and manage your own schedule.  Preferably, the person must have experienced living or have traveled abroad.  He or she must present a good appearance and a great upfront presentation due to public appearances and networking.  Must have great phone and in-person etiquette and outstanding customer service.  Self-disciplined with an upbeat personality and the desire for learning.  Must have a far-reaching social media presence and be savvy in all social media environments.  The position can be home-based and partially in an office environment.  The travel agent must pursue and maintain accreditation and training to enhance product knowledge.  Must be willing to assist as needed to enhance agency public presence and operations.  Maintain annual certifications and insurance. 

There is an initial low investment in order to become an affiliated associate to our agency.

Spanish speaking and writing is a plus.


Travel agents experience many perks.   One of them is the opportunity to visit destinations and experience travel products by attending FAM Trips.  FAM Trip stands for “familiarization trip” and is a free or low-cost trip that travel agents are provided by suppliers or travel operators.


 On a typical day a travel agent will:


 -      Advise clients on suitable options for domestic or international destinations, tours,

-       Arrange accommodation, transport, insurance, and fares. 

-       Liaising with clients in person, over the phone or via email to discuss their travel requirements. 

-       Make arrangements for transportation, hotel accommodations, car rentals, tours, and recreation

-       Advise on weather conditions, restaurants, tourist attractions, and recreation

-       Provide information on customs regulations, required papers (passports, visas, and certificates

        of vaccination), and currency exchange rates to international travelers

-       Consult published and computer-based sources for information on departure and arrival times,

        fares, and hotel ratings and accommodations

-       Visit hotels, resorts, and restaurants to evaluate the comfort, cleanliness, and quality of food and

        service

-       Contact potential clients and ensure all their questions are answered

-       Use booking system to secure reservations

-       Advise clients on travel arrangements, e.g. visas and passports

-       Send out reservations, tickets to clients

-       Deal with changes and cancellations

-       Keep clients up to date with complaints or refunds


Other duties as assigned


Educational Requirements:  Minimum a high school diploma or equivalent.


Other Requirements:  Candidate will be required to enhance the travel knowledge by taking classes in order to satisfy clients who, due to the Internet, are well-informed and expect expert advice.
